Promenade Plantees
There is an old railway line that has been converted into a 2 + mile long garden walk. It starts (or ends, depending on where YOU start) behind the Opera Bastille. We climbed the stairs and were in an oasis. It was lovely. People were strolling, sitting on benches having lunch, or sunning themselves. We saw some beautiful buildings, which were so close to the promenade. We walked about a mile then took stairs down to street level, on Ave Daumesnil. We met the glass artist Phillip Baldwin, who has his studio under one of the arches, as he was leaving to take his dog for a walk. We went in and out of shops as we walked back towards the Bastille. What a nice use of an urban space.
