This is #166, playing with tape and words. This is great fun.
This is my submission for my own mail art call - Skull Appreciation Day mail art. I've numbered it though as part of my 364 project #166a.
For participating in the wedding of our great-niece, I received a thank you gift of a lovely tin filled with postcards. Really nice cards, with no credit given to the designer, hmmm. Well, I couldn't let the opportunity go by, I HAD to alter them. This one is #167
Another of my alterations. #167a. I'm really enjoying the Washi tape, as you can see.
My friend Phyllis had a birthday recently. She's traveled a lot and this map shows an area that she is particularly drawn to. Technically not mail art, as I just handed it to her. She liked it.
This is the drain that is NOT draining. Our neighbor thinks the water is going into her basement, but the city guy who came to look at it, and the plumber guy who came to look at it, said "Nope! It drains to the big storm drain under the street." The plumbers are going to dredge it out today.
Look at what I got from Andrea. She sends fun stuff in the mail. Her envelopes are a wonder to behold AND unwrap.

More of London, an old friend, mail art #106, 107 & 108
| #108 |
We'd arranged to meet my old friend Andrea and little Beanie mouse at the Tate Modern. Here we are after spending a good portion of the day together at the Tate, before Andrea and Beanie headed home to Hove. I've been corresponding with Andrea for a very long time, so it was like meeting an old friend though this is the first time we've met in person. You can read about their adventures here.
We went to the Victoria and Albert to see their amazing ceramics collection. We were particularly interested in their contemporary ceramics. What a treat. We got to see the exhibit curated by Edmund de Waal (who wrote the book I read called The Hare with the Amber Eyes) of one of a kind contemporary ceramic works. We saw his installation of white ceramics on a red shelf set high up in a dome. You can see it on his site. I was really happy to be seeing this, since I'd read about it.
The Victoria and Albert is a wonderful museum in a wonderful building.

Here are more Mail Art cards that I made while in London.
The card I made while having lunch with Andrea and Beanie at the Tate Modern is at the very top.

Cooling off and Andrea Mail
I headed this "cooling off" but being in the pool is not quite like that. The water is tepid due to our hot weather. It's refreshing though because it's salt water and recently was treated with Vitamin C to clear the algae. Very healthy water. The pool is located near our major north-south interstate highway, which goes from Florida to Maine. You can see an exit sign just beyond the sound barrier wall. We can hear the rush of traffic sounding like the ocean, except when an emergency vehicle goes past and then you KNOW it's a highway. We go almost every morning, early, to exercise. It's just us and our son and usually no one else, like a pool in our own backyard. Lucky us!
Yesterday, I got a lovely package in the mail from Andrea. She sent very cool African print fabric and terrific buttons. Her note was on the reverse of one of her water colour sample cards. Read about Andrea here. She does wonderful water color paintings.

Good Mail Day
Yesterday was a Good Mail Day! I got two pieces of mail art. One from Andrea in the U.K. and one from Ptrizia Tictac in Germany. Notice, I got two of those sheets where you add your name, send mail art to the next name in line, and make copies to give to other mail artists. These two have some names the same and then different names added so I can see where they diverged. Very interesting. I, also, received one a few weeks ago, sent out mail art and two of the copies. I have 8 more to send out but slow going. I may have to go into Mail Art detox. (Yes, there's a detox group on IUOMA) I love the Mona postcard. She has big eyes like a Blythe doll. She cracks me up (makes me laugh.)
