 Why have I been gone so long?
So many things have been going on and all good!

For one thing, we went off to the beach for an entire week, renting a beach house with family and friends. It was delightful. We could see, and hear, the Atlantic ocean from the house, a short walk along a wooden path took us up over the dune onto the beach. The beach was very lovely, with hardly anyone on it as it's early in the season.
The weather was perfect.

Our grand-girl had a great time in her gigantic sand box.
 We can't wait to do this again.

A couple of the cards above were made at the beach with scraps of paper cut from the beach brochure.

 We saw the sunrise on the ocean and the sunset on the sound. How perfect.

The water was too cold to do more than walk along the edges.

 We saw lots of dolphins leaping and lots of pelicans flying, often they were in a line low over the dune. Both the dolphins and pelicans were closer than I'd ever seen before. How perfect.

One day, there were several bicycles parked on the board walk to the beach, behind our house.

This has been something keeping me busy. Also, while at the beach, I set up a blog to archive the artists coloring book that my honey produced. You can see it HERE.

Some fun news!

 This is the atrium of the Virginia Museum of Fine Arts (VMFA.) I took this photo when this new space first opened. It looks the same though it's usually always filled with people now. The museum is open 365 days of the year and is free of charge except for special exhibits. How nice, right? We love hanging out there.

AND here is #1 FUN NEWS!
 I will, once again, host  Slow Art Day at VMFA.

Participants will meet me at the museum on Saturday,  11 April, at 11 a.m. and view 5 works of art for an hour. Then we'll convene at the Best Cafe, at noon,  for an informal conversation about the experience. I'm excited to be doing this again. Fun Thing #2 - I'm so happy to be participating in The Sketchbook Project again. I missed the deadline because I wasn't being mindful, but then, the deadline was
e x t e n d e d!
Lucky me! Hooray.
So here's the cover and the first page. I spent a lot of time thinking about what I was going to do before starting so that it's all come together for me.
It's minimal, as usual. 
  I'll show more pages eventually, or tomorrow.

 My husband did another Artists Coloring Book project and I made a collage for it.

Pages from the book were printed and posted during the exhibit and viewers were encouraged to color on the prints.

After the exhibit came down, I got the colored on prints which I promptly cut up to postcard size (did that with C.s print, too.)

Here are a couple of them. I added some color and mailed them out, encouraging the recipients to add more color.

 Here's BIZOO! He's getting Bigger and bigger. He still loves to lounge on this scratching pad.

 Here's our grand-girl, Z, on one of our trips to the museum. We found a lovely, quiet spot to hang-out and eat a pretzel or two, with a nice view of the Boulevard. She's wearing a huge sweater, her choice, with the sleeves rolled up. It's dark gray with a black skull on the front. She's making a fashion statement!

And here's Mom! She celebrated her 101st birthday on the 19th. She lives nearly 3000 miles away from me, but nearby family celebrated with her and she enjoyed the attention.

 After the exhibit for the Artists Coloring Book came down, I got back the prints that were hung up for people to color on. I cut them up into standard postcard size, of course.

They were on nice card stock, perfect for altering.





My honey gave me his prints to cut up, too. Lucky me, so many cards to alter.

But what I've really been busy with is KNITTING! I'm like a maniac with knitting. I have some of my fingerless gloves, mitts, at a lovely little shop called NEST. They've set up a gift shop within their gift shop, full of hand crafted items by local makers.

If you're in my area, check them out.  Lots of fabulous goodies, including my mitts, and special small art pieces by my honey.

 I'm also participating in a one-day Pop-up shop on 12.13.14 (I love writing that!)
It's at the home of Bad Girl Artist Keithley Pierce.
