A surprise on a bridge.

Crossing the Seine yesterday, (I don't know how I got this underline thing, it's annoying me and I can't stop it!) we saw a guy in a kilt putting on a jacket and cap, opening a bag and sure enough, taking out his bagpipe. We stayed for the concert. I really like bagpipe music and appreciated the nice surprise of hearing it with the Seine in the background.

St. Andrews' community fair, cont'd.

This was the cool thing about the fair...men in skirts, I mean kilts. The sound of the bagpipes, the smell of the grill, sent me back to our visit to the chestnut festival at Olargue in the south of France. Okay, not exactly the south of Fance here, but that was the last place that I'd heard bagpipes in person.
I like bagpipe music, I like seeing men in kilts, and the little dance troop was delightful. People were sitting at tables under umbrellas, eating, watching, listening, and for a moment...it was a little village.

It's August already!!!

The summer is half way over, and glad about it. It's been so hot here and we look forward to cooler days.  I'm writing writing this...
