A fun day of altering vintage postcards!

The enormous shell appeared on day. No one knew who put it there or even how it was put there. It was quite an inconvenience. Too heavy to move, it remained there.

When John Oliver popped over the door, several passers-by fainted and one was heard to say- "oh, dear."

They were startled out of their boat when the large painting appeared floating in the calm lake.

It was never discovered who placed the large shell on the monument. It appeared one day. Children loved to listen to the sound of the sea.







The large shell appeared one day and there-after was used as a marker - "go past the house with the shell and turn left at the next corner."

A large painting was installed on the lawn as part of The Landscape Beautification Project. Visitors found it saccharine and unappealing. It remained for years.

 After a friend saw my previous use of The Gondolier on a postcard, she commented that it'd be fun to see him in different situations. So I tried that.

Here he is in a fountain at the World's Fair in NYC in 1964.

Unfortunately, my printer didn't do a very good job of printing so that he came out a little pale.

This is NOT a Gondolier card, obviously, rather something I did with the scraps on my table. I like using up my scraps this way.

Mail Art Monday! and more.

 Beautiful lettuces were available at the farmers' market on Saturday. I loaded up on them. I put them into "green" bags so they'll stay fresh for our holiday fest.
This is the market I went to at St. Stephen's church. It's quite convenient and will become an indoor market in winter. Yay. Fresh, local, seasonal veggies, and eggs.

I have to share my Japanese Maple tree with you. It's so brilliant, I mean like for real ELECTRIC brilliant. Isn't it beautiful?














I'm getting back into my pens, cleaning them up - I've mentioned this earlier, and now I've indulged myself with 2 new pens. Quite inexpensive ones but they write nicely. The larger one is a Lamy Nexx and the smaller one is a Pilot Petit with green ink in it for the moment. I do like using fountain pens but they do require maintenance!

 Using reproduction Victorian scraps on vintage postcards is quite fun. It's kind of like Tiny Town someone suggested. Perhaps these kids are on their way there. What do you think?

I like the incongruity of the kittens playing with a bowl of gold fish amongst the cacti, and the girl and her kitten having a picnic on the lawn.

 Here I'm using a new postcard of an old painting paired with a REAL vintage Victorian scrap. An odd series of kittens dressed up, and in this instance, holding a toy bear. My honey got the in a flea market in Paris, I think.

Here the kitten is wearing clogs and a fez. So odd, so odd. He's strolling across a vintage landscape postcard.
I have more of these, so you'll be seeing them again.

 Oh I'm just on a roll with my landscape alterations. What a good way to use the vintage postcards, right? It's been fun looking for images of paintings that are in the right perspective to fit along the roadways.







I'm seeing this as a highway beautification project. Instead of wildflowers, large paintings!

This is one of my more successful ones, I think. I have several more of this particular view. It's quite a boring postcard, really, when you think about it. Who would find this strip of road and view particularly interesting. The painting definitely improves the view.

 What a surprise in the mail last week. A Mail Art friend in Texas sent me this book. I'd seen some of the photos and now I have my very own "album" of them. I love them - tiny people in settings. The opposite of Tiny Town! And fun text to go with the images, too. Thanks heaps to Limner.

Here's another surprise. We were going through boxes stored in the area above our bedroom closet and found one box with some clothing from when our "kids" were kids. Isn't this tiny shirt adorable?  Hopefully, another little kid will be wearing it in a couple years.
