In New York City

Happy this was available!
We took the train from Philadelphia to New York City on Monday afternoon (last week.) and by Wednesday, I needed to see the Doc at the Duane Reade. Happy me, got diagnosis and meds and on the road to recovery. But this trip to the city was at a way slower pace than usual.

One of the exhibits we saw was at MAD. Artists who don't usually work in glass, showing glass pieces. Very cool! I wish I'd written down the name of this artist, because I really liked this piece, but I didn't. If you know who did it, let me know. It's a broken red glass chandelier with crows on it.
This glass piece was done by Mike Joo, a sculptor, whom we met many years ago at the Cite International des Arts. This is a beautiful piece.
We went to MoMA on Thursday, a day we forgot the umbrella and needed one, so I ended up buying the one I'd wanted for a long time. It has clouds on the inside and you know how I love clouds. Here are some clouds as seen from MoMA. Here is the link to see the umbrella I got.
We stopped in at MoMA cafe where I had a cup of lovely peppermint tea. For some reason, I wanted that kind of tea while I was ill, and everywhere we stopped in the city had it. Lucky me.
Clouds viewed from the High Line. We walked slowly down the path, the sky cleared. It was so nice to have the views from this elevated park.
Clearer skies, lovely clouds, more from the High Line.

This is some vegetarian sweet and sour soup from the really good Szechuan restaurant on 9th Ave. & 24th Street. If you are in the city, stop in at this place. Reeeeally delicious food.

This is Buddha Delight. I had this at a Chinese restaurant in Chinatown on Canal Street east of Broadway. The tofu is made there and is excellent. It's so busy and the food is so fresh and delicious. Even though I wasn't feeling 100% well, I enjoyed eating this kind of food. Yummy!

Mail Art, and some travel photos.

I made this piece on Sunday, using bits I got from a brochure from the Winery we went to on Saturday. It's the Brooklyn Winery and they made really nice wine. Who'd have thought! We took a tour and had a tasting. If you are in the area, definitely go there.
This was made this morning. Back to my altered card mode. I'm not totally pleased with this one. The arm doesn't quite work with the pigs. I tried.
This is the view from our hotel window, the Radisson hotel, right off exit 12 on the New Jersey Turnpike. Easy to get from there into Manhattan via the Holland or Lincoln Tunnels.
I spotted these clowns having lunch. I was like, Why were they still in makeup and eating lunch!? Then we walked a bit further and there were a whole bunch more and, voila, a sign, Cirque du Soleil! They were perfomers on their lunch break. Cool, right?
There were these lovely bas-relief pieces above the doors all around the 30 Rock building. Notice the reflection in the window. I hadn't seen it until I looked at my photo.
Do any of you know about or remember Lite Bright? It was/is a great kids toy. We had one, which N. used for one of his skull pieces (skull-a-day) but actually it belongs to M. I loved "finding" this giant Lite Bright in a store window.
Walking the High Line. It was SO hot. I was glad to have my umbrella to use as a parasol. The High Line has been extended since we last walked it.

Bridges and more

We attended the benefit and screening of Mermaids of New York in a cool venue, Galapagos Art Space. It's located in Dumbo, the area of Brooklyn that is down under the bridges (Manhattan and Brooklyn.) The area has restaurant, galleries, and more. We walked in the park, the big brick building is American Civil War era. I don't know what the big knobby thing is, some artifact dug up in the area I'm thinking.

The building where we stayed is visible in the photo of the Brooklyn Bridge, as well as the building being constructed that has the interesting wave along the side.

We walked the High Line during the daytime. The plants have grown a lot since we walked it in July.

Here I am, back again after a long hiatus

No explanations as to my hiatus. It's boring. But I'm back. And here's what I've been making. Lots and lots of these. They...
