Stamp news & sky

We went up to Washington, D.C. on Saturday and were fortunate to have a place to stay over night so that we could do some more on Sunday.  I have some photos to download from my camera to show more of D.C. but wanted to share about the National Postal Museum.
Our friend made sure that I didn't miss seeing it. I was a bit apprehensive, thinking maybe it'd be boring but it wasn't. The building is huge and grand, the museum is on the lower level and very nicely done. Lots to see.
One of the things we liked a lot was this pane of stamps that is not for sale as far as we can tell. It was created by artists for a special A to Z of philately exhibit. We all want this pane of stamps!!
Look what I saw in the window of the shop at the museum! Our good mail art friends Jennie Hinchcliff  & Carolee GIlligan Wheeler's book. This is the book that I take with me when I do a workshop as a must have for newbies to mail art.
This was the sky as we were driving home. I took this with my cell phone but someone else took some with her camera and hopefully I'll get one of those to share with you.
More on the museum and D.C. next post.

PS I'm still making and sending out mail art, but not scanning or posting. When I make a Tiny Town adventure I'll post that.

Happy Mail Box

Someone sent me this wonderful tube of paper tape! I don't know who gifted me with it but I can't wait to do something with it.
My dear friend Andrea in the U.K. surprised me with this packet of Peppermint tea, which I love and I loved receiving this. Thank you so much.
Another of my dear friends, Katerina, in Thessaloniki, sent me mail art AND a copy of her son's book. The text is by a woman, but don't read Greek, so don't know how to translate her name. The photos are by Petros Nikoltsou. The book is about Los Angeles. See the Title? Now you can read some Greek. The photos are just perfect for the subject.

A new friend of mine, whom I hope to meet someday, here or in San Francisco, sent me a ravioli box full of goodies. All Asian, of the kind we do not see here in RVA, plus a CD of a local band. An amazing box of goodies.

I am overwhelmed and humbled by the generosity of my friends.

My studio, last month.

In the middle of November, after completing a big sewing project for the Holiday shop, I decided to tackle my work table in preparation for more collage making. Looking towards "my real wall" and then towards "my other real wall" you can see how small my actual work space was at that time. Since then, I've cleared the space to the right, which makes me feel like I have a huge studio. (not exactly but way more spacious)
On the right, you can see Jennie Hinchcliff's (co-authored with Carolee Gilligan-Wheeler)  book Good Mail Day. It's inspiring to have it leaning against my little drawer unit. I have tons of scraps in those drawers, as well as old photos, ATC blanks, magnets, envelopes that I made from old books, etc. On top you can see my Blythe doll and behind her, my Coraline doll. Notice the cool stuff on that wall?

Goodbye for a few days, Studio. When I return from my little trip away from you, I'll have some new inspiration for MailArt365.

Here I am, back again after a long hiatus

No explanations as to my hiatus. It's boring. But I'm back. And here's what I've been making. Lots and lots of these. They...
