All the usual fun!

 The pool this morning was nice, even if the water was 90F.  No one was there but us!











This is my latest, #966, and it's going to London. I sure hope it gets there. I like the poem - "For Sure! The wind felt immensely pleased."  I pick up pieces of text randomly and somehow they make lovely poems, these random bits. Do you ever do that? Let randomness take over for a little while! See what happens.

I made a bean salad on 3 July. It's a classic. I posted the recipe on my food blog here. It is sooo good, we've hardly any left and it's only the 6th!

Mail art, of course, bean spread and more

 Just a bit of atmosphere on this cloudy day. I took this photo last week. I really like how it looks like a painting or a pastel piece.

 This is today's mail art for my 365 project. I'm using a substrate of pieces cut from the cover of a pad of water color paper. It was such a nice weight that I couldn't just toss it into the recycle bin. It required very little added to it. Title: "Void-Filled #2" and it's being sent far away.

I decided that I needed something made with beans, since I know they are very good for us and have lots of protein and fibre. I put the recipe here.
I spread it on a thinly sliced whole wheat bun, added some spicy mustard and some havarti cheese. YUM! Just what I wanted for lunch.

Now, off to the post office to mail all of the mail art I made this weekend, and to the bank to deposit my earnings from the Jonny Z Festival. A generally relaxing day since I'm not doing marathon sewing.

Fruits and veggies

Last week, I got some Tongue of Fire beans. Aren't they beautiful? I simmered them with some garlic and they became a nice beige color. I've been snacking on them or tossing them in my salad. Though there are fancier ways to use them, I've enjoyed them plain. The okra was lovely, though I personally don't care for it. Lots of people seemed excited that it was available. As usual, the Sun Gold tomatoes were delicious. Last summer, during the tomato festival, our farmer's Sun Golds won an award. This year, we didn't have the festival at the market. I'm sure they'd have won again. This evening, Chuck picked up our fruit share from Agriberry CSA (community supported agriculture.) We got some blueberries and LOTS of peaches. I put the water bottle next to the box to give an idea at the size of the fruit. REQUEST: please send me a link to any good but easy recipes using peaches. (not with Bisquik, however, as Chuck is trying to bake from scratch.)

Thursday we had some great veggies. Doesn't that shopping basket look so colorful?
