Here is all of the Halloween treats we had left over. It was a dark and rainy night, thus, few little folks at the door. Our favorite little neighbors came by while it was still light out and got special treats. They looked great and I forgot to take photos of them, darn it!
This is mail art that I received from my friend, Dean, in Paris. He's the wildest Mailer. Part of a computer? and a map of Paris, and on the reverse a song about our upcoming trip to Paris to the tune of "Start Spreading the News." What fun!
I have to show this to you! We just got the photos from our great-niece's wedding yesterday and if you look really closely, you'll see me in the back there, co-officiating with the pastor!!! How cool was that?!
Yesterday's mail art was a very simple alteration of three of the cards I got on sale at VMFA, left over from the big Picasso exhibit. I added 1960 bird stickers. That's all, just a bird or two. This is the #335 series. I entitled it "Paul's costume came complete with a live bird."
This piece I called "They run with birds."
I'm very fond of this painting of Olga. I've titled this one "Olga's red bird tried to cheer her up."
I have a few more of these cards, so you might see some more alterations of them. Which one do you like best? What other things might I do with them? Any ideas for me. I'm at the home stretch for the 365 project! This is the last month, I can't believe it.

Mail Art and more
I was going through my boxes of received mail art. I pulled out some items that came in envelopes, including this postcard, which I altered a bit and am sending back to the person who sent it. I think she'll be surprised as I've had it for a year or more.
This arrived a couple of days ago. A colorfully painted envelope filled with IUOMA items including my very own membership card. This is exciting. It was sent by Ruud Janssen, the founder of the IUOMA.
Yesterday, we attended a wedding. It was lovely. Here's a photo that I took with my cell phone, which I'm seeing as a painting from another era, with the women in long dresses, right? I might need to start painting again inspired by this.
What an interesting weekend. A memorial service and a wedding, two life cycle events. Keeps one grounded, that's for sure.

Los Angeles, the Wedding
We traveled to Los Angeles to attend the wedding of my niece. It was held at a beautiful old (for L.A.) venue, Cicada.
This is the view of the doors,
which we were waiting to open, for the bride and her father to appear for the first time. While we were upstairs having cocktails, the staff transformed
the space from ceremony seating to dinner hall. It was a beautiful ceremony and a wonderful party.
I rarely show the personal on this blog, but I had to include a photo of my 95 year old mom at the cocktail hour, wearing the lovely outfit that my sister made for her. She really enjoyed herself. During the dancing, she was tapping her hands to the music,
wishing she could get up and join the dancers. I, also, had to include this sweet photo of another niece doing J's polish
the night before the wedding.
We had a really good time, having the chance to connect with relatives, be tourists in Los Angeles, and be at the Skulls exhibit opening. Now we're home, recovering!
