 Three cards from the past few days. An original collage incorporating a painting by Kandinsky, who I didn't apprciate until I was an adult.

Two altered cards to send to people that I know, to surprise them.

And for book club yesterday, I once again made the Brown Sugar-Toffee cake. It was the best version ever! Want to taste it? The recipe is HERE.

Crossing the James River on Sunday morning, headed to my knitting group, so peaceful, with such a lovely sky.  I took this while driving!! I can't believe that I did it but look, no one was on the road with me.

Some photos in London

The old Vic theatre was right near our hotel. What a thrill to see it. Too bad we couldn't have seen a play there.

 This is one of the few remaining telephone boxes in London. Sadly, there isn't much need for public phones these days.














Ah, the mail artist's heart goes pitter patter at the sight of a mail box.

This is the bridge that crosses the Thames from behind the Tate Modern and leads to St. Paul's church. You can see what a typical London day it was.









We had a really lovely, sunny day our last day in London. Here's a view of the EYE from our room.

Belle Isle with Skull-a-day

Today, Noah created a skull-a-day image using people. We were invited to join him on Belle Isle for the photo shoot at 9 this morning. The pedestrian bridge is under the James River vehicle bridge and is quite dramatic. We got wonderful views of the river as we crossed over. Under the bridge, on the south side, was our staging site. You can see the image created on the skull-a-day web site. Here is a photo of the legs of the people in front of me and one of Noah on the landing with his camera, getting us into position.

Belle Isle

Walking back across the James River gave us this wonderful view of the curving vehicle bridge overhead. I found this beautiful but frightening, for reasons I can't talk about in this post. This one canoe with fishing guys looked so peaceful. There's part of an older bridge, just a rusty partial structure remains and the stone supports in the water. I, also, liked the heavy duty cable connections.

Aquarium visit

Last Saturday, I went with Ryan and his aunt, uncle and cousin to the aquarium in Camden, NJ. I hadn't been to one in a long time and this was a real treat. The kids enjoyed it, and so did I. Here's a sampling of photos that I took. The Hippo and the orange jelly fish were taken with my cell phone. I remember the first time I saw someone taking a photo with a cell phone, I was so amazed. Now it's so "normal" to be doing that. Ryan wanted his picture with the Benjamin Franklin bridge in the background.

Paris views

These are the views of the Seine as I looked west crossing Pont Marie, when I went to La Poste or the Patisserie on Ile St. Louis. I took these the last morning in Paris. A lovely morning sky, yes?

Here are two final day and night views of Notre Dame from our middle window. And here am I, taking a final look at the end of our residency.

Dublin, just a taste..

We went to Dublin for the weekend to see our old friends M. and P. Here's a view of the Ha'penny bridge over the Liffey River. I hope to post more before we return to the states but am dependent on free wifi. Thanks to the city of Paris, and the free wifi, I'm in the library of the local city hall.

Out and about continued

Chuck took these stunning postcard photos for me as we walked back from our after lunch stroll to the left bank. In these views, we're crossing over behind Notre Dame.

In one photo, where you see the two people crossing the bridge (Pont Louis Philippe.) You can see the top of the Cité. Our studio is behind those trees in the middle. What a gorgeous day!
