Day 6

Day 9 & Day 21
All this month of October, I've been participating in the Creative Sprint, which is a project of Another Limited Rebellion (which happens to be the business of our son and daughter.)

It's been a wonderful challenge. I did it last April. I didn't plan to do it this time around but then I just jumped in.
Day 17

Above, Day 18, we were to make something to trade for something we wanted. Well, I always want MAIL!! So I traded for some Mail Art from another Sprinter!

Day 6, we were to make something with our eyes closed. I chose the pencils with eyes, closed and made a portrait. I even put the brush of water on with out seeing where I was doing it. I really like the results!

Day 9, we were to take something apart and make something new from it. I opened up a cracker box, made a weaving through it and then put it together inside out.

On Day 21, we were to make something and send it through the mail. Easy Peasy as kids used to say a long time ago, easy peasy for me. I made a water color landscape, put it in the Day 9 box, added a bunched up plastic bag for padding, and sealed it up all over with packing tape. It made it through the mail, arriving at it's destination today!
Yay, USPS. Three day journey only.

On Day 17, we were to teach someone how to do something. I taught people who had basic knitting skills how to make a pair of simple fingerless gloves.

I think a couple people might try it. I hope they do and show me the results.

Yarn-y goodness

I was having an azul kinda day on Thursday, so I stopped at The Yarn Lounge on my way home from visiting my shut-in friend. I went from feeling azul to feeling very sunny!! It's all of this yarn-y goodness that perked up my mood.

I got some Pagewood Farm Merino/cashmere hand-dyed yarn, with the color name : maple leaf. It's sock yarn but I'll use it for finger-less gloves/mitts.
I, also, got two different yarns from Plain & Fancy Sheep & Wool Co. of Henderson, TX. Hand-dyed variegated wool. One is called "confetti" and the other is "autumn leaves." They have no web presence it seems, but a search will get you their phone number & address.

They yarns feel so soft and the colors are just so scrumptious. The finished products will go into Fritzi, my Etsy shop. Come see me there when you have time.

My Etsy shop, Fritzi

I re-opened my Etsy shop yesterday after being "on vacation" while away in Paris and Los Angeles. I put some new things in the shop, finger-less gloves also known as mittens, as well as a few of my Purses for Change. I'm very excited about being clued in to using the Photo Booth application on my MacBook. Wow! I was able to take this nice photo of the mittens, called Mauve Mavis, all by myself. Yes!! Check out my shop here. And while you're checking things out, look at my sister's new space here.

Merino wooly goodness!

Here are more images of Dianne Nordt's wonderful Merino wool. I found out that she has only 3 Merino sheep, a woman comes to sheer them in the spring, then the wool gets sent off to a mill to be spun. This current collection is from three year's worth of shearing. Erika is "modeling" some yarn that Dianne dyed with black walnut leaves. I love that she gets two brown shades from the leaves. I've one pair of fingerless gloves from the single-ply yarn and love the way they look and feel. Dianne wants me to make a pair for her and two other people that I saw at the market want pairs. Woo hoo, I've got to get busy knitting!

It's August already!!!

The summer is half way over, and glad about it. It's been so hot here and we look forward to cooler days.  I'm writing writing this...
