Mail Art, what else? Oh, and a bit more.

Here are the Kitty pumpkins carved by my little neighbors. They have held up nicely this week, due to the cooler temperatures, no doubt. I baked my small pie pumpkins and now have lots of pumpkin puree. I used some to make a pound cake. I used my sweet potato pound cake recipe and substituted the pumpkin puree. It worked great! The odd thing about this piece is that I had no idea until I scanned it how dimensional it appears. Amazed myself. Just 3 pieces of paper!

I used 4 pieces of paper for this one. I felt it needed the circle on the left for balance.

 I'm using quotes from Dr. Seuss for this series of cards. The cards are so minimal and non-objective but when I put the quotes with them, they have another life.

Three pieces for this one. I like how the circle appears to do something odd to the red paper. 












The circle rests on top of the two different yellow papers. Because it had a "line" in it with two colors, and I lined that up with the edge of the pale yellow paper, it appears to be transparent. It appears to over-lap it. So cool. That's a Josef Albers experiment for sure.

 This is a poster that my friend took a photo of when she was in Buenos Aires. I'm adding it because of the Kitty pumpkins at the top of this post. I like the idea of bracketing my Mail Art with kitties. I have them on my mind because I'd really like to have one again.

Mail out & more

 I'm really fond of this altered photo postcard. Juli sent me a pack of photo postcards. This is the second one I altered by simply cutting up postage stamps and gluing them to the photo. I hope the recipient liked receiving this.

 Our niece has a collection of Chanakiot (that's plural for chanukah menorahs, I think, correct me if I'm wrong.) These are a few of them, including the newest one that her hubby gave her. We had the annual gathering at her home yesterday and it was very festive.

We had a few of the little pumpkins left and the squirrels are continuing to enjoy their feast of seeds. They work very hard and long to get at them.

I've started to put together my art kit for our trip. I think I might be going over-board with it. I can pare it down, since there ARE art supply stores in Paris.

Wednesday update and some more Tiny Town!

 We had some small pie pumpkins out in our garden as decorations for the halloween party that didn't happen (it was cold and rainy that night.) A couple of squirrels  have been very happy, they are looking mighty healthy! It's been fun to watch them tackle these.

 Driving home from Spanish class, I stopped to look at the geese on Fountain Lake (an tiny artificial lake.) They were very quiet.  See what a gray day it was today? It's been raining but it's warm. Very odd, it's December!

 Here's our stash of holiday cards that my honey pulled out of the drawer. The green ones in the center were a gift from a letter writing friend who scored a 90% off sale on cards. So nice of her to share. And we will mail these off as we want to support our postal system as much as possible, as well as wish everyone some cheer.

 Here's some shadow play from Saturday in D.C. The sun was so bright that we got some nice crisp outlines.

 Even though my Mail Art 365 project has ended, I'm still sending out Mail Art and Tiny Town is still going. Today's cards show the amazing news: open-faced sandwiches appeared from a courtyard.

Tiny Town residents were confounded by this, and the mystery of who made them remains to this day!
