 I was recycling some old magazines, 1960, that I couldn't have in my studio anymore because of the OLD smell.

I did glean a few images of sweets from an advert. Couldn't resist them.

Added an arm in this one just for the fun of it.












A friend an I went up to Washington, DC, last week to see the exhibit at the Renwick Gallery. I had to, of course, stop at the US Postal Museum. My friend hadn't  been there before so I was eager to show it to her. There was an exhibit of postcards from Post Secret. Many were on display but so many had been received that there was a huge glassed in area full of bundled cards. This is only a portion of them. I couldn't take a full photo without lots of reflections, so I put my camera against the glass to capture this small portion.
It was a terrific exhibit.




Here's a view of the interior of the downstairs area central space. If you're in the area and haven't yet been to this museum, do go. It's right next to the train station. And entry is gratis.

A BIG mail art day.

Road Trip

 I was so happy this morning to discover in my stash of paper, a "map" from 1998, for low altitude airplanes to use when flying over the carribean and Central America. Very cool document! I decided to cover a lot of cards (okay, only 5) with this as a base to work on. Then I decided to just look for 2 or 3 elements to add to each card.

I read on someone's blog yesterday, a quote from an artist (can't remember blog, can't remember artist) that said something like "if you have 4 elements use 3." So I did.

 The background was busy enough, right?  I am really determined to use up my scraps during this project. Lucky me, found these airplane stamps, in duplicate. They work so well for this map.

What's your story?

I'd had this pair of legs for awhile, ditto the doll head. They form some kind of narrative, but you'll have to supply the story yourself.  The stamp came off of a package from Anke, photographer extraordinaire, from Germany.



This woman has a story, I'm sure. I liked the way the orange piece of paper made her pop off of the background.

A bit of this and that.

I left Los Angeles last Wednesday. The day started early as I had to catch the 10h30 bus from Van Nuys airport to LAX. The lines for security were long and it's all so tiring!
The flight was full but it was a smaller aircraft than scheduled and 50 volunteers were needed to give up their seats. I wasn't volunteering, I wanted HOME! I had a window seat so was able to get a few images of the departure. I really like looking down a the landscape.

My flight went directly from Los Angeles to Washington DC Dulles airport. 5 hours later, we were on the east coast but my body clock didn't arrive with me. I had an hour wait before my flight to Richmond, a short 30 minute hop. By the time I arrived home it was nearly midnight.  I've been jet lagging, tired, ever since I got home. aaagh, I need to catch up!  I've sooo much to catch up on.

Here's the last of Mom's stuffed friends. This one sleeps on her bed. It's really big and she really likes it.

This little kitty sits outside mom's door. It used to have a plant in it but now it's empty. Mom keeps saying that she's going to do some planting but that's wishful thinking. Nice thinking, however, not happening.

When I got home, I had some nice Mail Art waiting for me from Found-Art, letters from two correspondence friends, and a postcard from Postcrossing from China. So nice to come home to real mail. 

Gorgeous cake pan!

I'd hardly settled in, when I remembered we had to go to a birthday party and I was signed up to bring a cake. So, my trusty gorgeous pan to the rescue, whew, another smashingly interesting chocolate cake! (secret recipe: a box mix! Don't tell anyone, shhhh.)
