An exciting thing for IUOMA

I'm a member of the International Union of Mail Artists (IUOMA) and tonight, we got our 3000th member.

To welcome this member, I altered a previously made card by adding stick-on letters and numbers.

It looks pretty exuberant, right?
 A bunch of us members have been eagerly awaiting the arrival of this member, who did NOT put a postal address on their IUMOA page.

I, however, being sleuthy, found the person on Facebook and gave the good news, while requesting a postal address. I hope the person posts it so that all IUOMA will send them Mail Art.

Wouldn't that be exciting, to receive 2999 pieces of Mail Art?
Or just insane. What do you think?

Mail art and calm waters

 My Mail Art buddy Mary sent this card to me, thanking me for sending her some Mail Art; but, I added the postage stamps, couldn't help myself, and sent it back to her. Somehow, those mountains and the water called for alteration. I was in an altering mood! ha haha ha. Again, the scale changes so much with these alterations.

 A letter writing friend of mine, whom I bought postage from via Etsy, sent me a couple stickers of old timey girls. Here's one that I altered and added to a composition. I think what happens for me with making these Mail Art pieces is that I amuse myself. How good is that?

 Someone sent this ATC to me recently, but I took it out of the envelope and then didn't remember who it came from. It's dated 2003 and the eMail address is no longer in existence. I really like it. It's a paper geisha on a piece of silk fabric background. 2.5" x 3.5" I just had to share it with you. It looks lovely and feels really nice.

 I received this sewn card from a member of IUOMA, Rebecca in Arkansas USA. It arrived in a clear envelope, with the notice that the envelope can be recycled. You know, of course, what I'm going to do. Use it for something else, right?

Mail Art and more

 I was going through my boxes of received mail art. I pulled out some items that came in envelopes, including this postcard, which I altered a bit and am sending back to the person who sent it. I think she'll be surprised as I've had it for a year or more.

 This arrived a couple of days ago. A colorfully painted envelope filled with IUOMA items including my very own membership card. This is exciting. It was sent by Ruud Janssen, the founder of the IUOMA.

Yesterday, we attended a wedding. It was lovely. Here's a photo that I took with my cell phone, which I'm seeing as a painting from another era, with the women in long dresses, right? I might need to start painting again inspired by this.

What an interesting weekend. A memorial service and a wedding, two life cycle events. Keeps one grounded, that's for sure.
