More Mail Art, of course!

#113
I've had a lot of fun collection hands, eyes, and mouths from magazines.

What do you think? A whole image is formed right? You can see what the entire face looks like.

A friend sent me this eraser card. I wasn't sure how I'd alter it, but the addition of this head really changed this into a narrative piece.  I posted it on Facebook for my Mail Art Monday post and asked for captions. I got some really good ones.

Do want to suggest a caption?

I've been meaning to share this received mail with you. The envelope appeared to have been water damaged then dried out. It was sent to me from Puerto Rico in August but wasn't received until September, long after our friends had returned.

I showed them the envelopes before I opened them It's amazing that they arrived at our home. Amazing.

Notice that I'm circle happy these days.

Perhaps because I've started a group on IUOMA (the Internation Union of Mailartists) that is all about circles.

It was suggested to me by a colleague
and it's taken off. Obviously, it needed to be started!

The two pieces with the black background were inspired by a jacket that someone in my Spanish class was wearing. I was very attracted to it - it had a black background and a print of pink and rose calla lilies with green leaves. These pieces do not do it justice but they are reminders for me.

My friend sent me this eye so I had to use it to alter a card I received announcing a photo exhibit.

This collage was sent off to France as a thank you to someone who sent me a lovely little water color painting in an envelope with my name calligraphed on it so beautifully. What a treat.

I like how this piece has a spatial quality to it. It's so float-y. Do you like it?

So here's my news!
Shoalhaven River Festival NSW Australia
I sent 30 prints of photographs that I took driving the New Jersey Turnpike (I've mentioned these before) and made them into postcards that were sent to Micro Galleries (friend Kat Roma Greer) who had them installed along the river for the festival. The deal was that people would take them away, alter them, and send them to me. I'll set up an installation here, locally, with the a copy of the original and the pieces I receive back. All of the pieces were taken so I hope I get lots back, but if I only get one or two, I'll be delighted.

This piece was made on the train heading north. I got the image and text from the Amtrak magazine. Very minimal and I like it that way.

This was made our first day in the city. We stayed at an Airbnb place and it was very nice. I used an image from the Amtrak magazine, a stamp I'd brought with me, and some punched out circles. Is she whistling?

Second day in the city, I used an eye from the Amtrak magazine, a stamp I'd brought and the paper that the holes were punched from the previous day. This is an "eye" series all of a sudden!

We stayed very busy all day long, so tired at the end of the day. I made my Mail Art in the morning before starting out. Here it's about the eyes, too.

Here's another version of the eye from the Amtrak magazine. We were on our way back home when I made this one. I used the last of the stamps that I'd brought in my traveling Mail Art kit.

Some clouds. How I love looking up at the clouds, Always different. We've had some lovely sunsets. This one was taken by the Science Museum where I had a view with our overhead wires.
My son took this photo of our grand. He's a good photographer and she's a good model. Getting ready for the celebration of Halloween! What a cutie.

It's August already!!!

The summer is half way over, and glad about it. It's been so hot here and we look forward to cooler days.  I'm writing writing this...
