Creative Sprint and a couple new mail art collages

 These images were on my desk, just like this, so I put them on a blank and glued them down. I like the odd juxtaposition.

 I'm enjoying making compositions with hand, butterflies and moths. Maybe it's cause Spring has sprung in this part of the globe.

 Here's what our tree looked like last week. This week, it's all green leafy. My honey had a lot of sweeping up to do in the back yard/garden.

 My 365.3 series started the 1st of 2013. This week's series was made using very old paper, VERY old paper. I'm anxious to see if they'll survive their journey.







I've sent out a couple of them, but I'm waiting for the new postage stamps. I've used up all of the old denominations, adding 1cent stamps, but now I've no postcard stamps or any to make up the new amount. 33 U.S. cents. My branch post office had no new stamps. grrrr.








I'm hoping that the stamps I ordered via the internet will arrive today. I'm eager to send these on their way. Also, I've ordered a set of vintage post marks. I'm happy about that, since I've enjoyed using the ones I already have. They add such an old time-y look to the cards. Right?

 On Friday morning, I did volunteering at a nearby elementary school. It was first Friday reading day. I picked this book to read, purchased it at the local children's book store, and it was a winner! The kids loved it. I donated it to the school library. Don't you love the expression on the dog's face? The kids did.

This is just a sweet little image - these birds are salt and pepper shakers and I mostly forget that's what they are, so they sit on the shelf above the sink, looking sweet, near the bunny, waiting to get shaken.

#174 & 175s

 This #174 card is an altered card, using a painting by Maurice Utrillo. Cracked myself up with the giant bunny overtaking the town. I called it: The giant rabbit takes over Sannois and the residents think "yum, le lapin roti."

 I wanted to use some of the butterflies that I had, so I did this #175 series. This one is entitled "La Doña con su mariposa favorito." It's going to someone who knows Español.

 Here I've altered a postcard again. An artifact from Nepal, a crown. No title for this one.

 And yet another altered crown, but untitled as I couldn't think what to call it.

Here are some of the postcards that I got at the VMFA sale. They were 10 for $1, which is really inexpensive for art cards, for any postcards actually. I'm looking forward to seeing what I can do to alter them.

A nice day....

Last Sunday, while Ryan was visiting, we took a walk over to Monument Avenue for the annual Easter Parade, which is not a parade but a BIG walk around. People and dogs, many in fancy hats, just walk down one side and up the other, with the median park area filled with booths and activities. It's a lot of fun. There are bands set up on porches, Morris Dancers in the street, jugglers, clowns, food, and in general a happy atmosphere. We liked this lawn decorated with fake eggs of all sizes and a fat bunny. Later, after our family headed back to New jersey, we stopped by our friends' house and they had made these cute cupcakes. Susan was happy to tell us that she'd used her new paper cutter, we thought on the coconut, but it was to make the duck napkin fit the tray. We had a laugh over that. Okay, so we laugh easily and at little things.
