It's a lovely day in my neighborhood!

#73

#74

#75

Some Mail Art collages - #73 uses very specific shapes, #74 uses left-over shapes (and I do like this one a lot) and #75 is an altered vintage postcard that my friend Andrea sent to me. It's sort of Colossus of Rhodes, right?

It's such beautiful weather today that I've taken my lap top outside; where, I can enjoy the garden, and the lovely, low humidity and light breeze.

Meanwhile, inside, a chard pie was baking! Here it is. I did it without the pie crust that the recipe called for. I think it'll be good!
Here's my lovely little garden. All hosta and ferns and other shade loving plants. The couple bird feeders are back in business attracting birds. Yay.
On Monday, I got together with my friend to finish up day 21 of #CreativeSprint. The prompt was to call someone you hadn't spoken to in awhile, and have them give you a prompt. My friend suggested that I make a map of a place we could walk to easily, so I did. We walked the map together, first to a nearby "shelf" to leave some things, then to a coffee shop to leave books.

The book is registered on Bookcrossing. I hope that whoever found it will make a journal entry.

Whatever is on the shelf is anonymous, so we'll never know who took our stuff. And someone left a miniature china cup and saucer, and I took it for our grand-girl. She loved it.

So there you go, a lovely day in the neighborhood. I hope your day has gone, is going, or will go well.

Happy

I made another chocolate and pecan pie, The recipe is here. We went to our friends' home last night and had delicious food, including the pie topped with whipped cream, a latte from the new machine, lots of laughter, especially when trying to play ping pong on the new p-p table, and some sets of Bananagrams, Here's what one "Bananas!" looked like.
I got a surprise gift in the mail yesterday, all the way from Lander, Wyoming. The soap smells sooo good and the earrings are handmade from glass. How perfect.
The snow is still on the ground, but it's no longer attractive. Rain is on it's way as well as above freezing temperatures, so hopefully, tomorrow the landscape will be back to what's more normal for our part of the U.S.A.

Holiday eats

Merry Christmas to all my friends out there who'll be celebrating this holiday tonight and tomorrow.
We're stopping by our neighbor's briefly before heading off to the country to be with friends tonight. I've made my yummy spread (yes, cheese and butter mixed!) and my chocolate pecan pie (which gets topped with whipped cream.) I'll be making another pie for tomorrow night's Christmas day dinner, which we'll celebrate with other friends, AFTER our niece's open house. Oh so much eating. I feel immensely grateful for such abundance. For any of you who may have tried to make my oatmeal cookies....big apologies. I forgot, YES, skipped over, two very important ingredients. Our cousin, the original cookie maker, tried the recipe and got tasty but odd cookies. Pourqoui, por que, you may ask...what I forgot was the flour and the baking soda!! In my haste to share the recipe, I never reviewed before posting. So Sorry! The recipe has been corrected so if you are game to try again, or even for the first time, you can find the recipe here.

Peachy pie, so peachy!

This past week, our fruit CSA gave us lots of peaches, so Chuck wanted to make a peach pie. He used his dear aunt Elna's recipe for the pat-in crust (no rolling necessary.) He blended in the soy margarine with the flour and egg, sliced the peaches and mixed them with sugar and lemon juice, patted the dough into a long baking dish, put in the peaches, flattened little pieces of the dough to put on top, dotted with butter, and baked. It was delicious!

It's August already!!!

The summer is half way over, and glad about it. It's been so hot here and we look forward to cooler days.  I'm writing writing this...
