Brownies and Mail Art

I made these brownies tonight to eat while we watched the opening ceremonies of the Olympics. The were called Award Winning Brownies so I thought they'd be perfect for the occasion. You can find the recipe HERE.
They turned out deliciously.
I'm 10 pieces of Mail Art away from my 1000th since I started counting on 1 Dec. 2010.

This is a series of 3 altered Louise Nevelson postcards that I did this afternoon.  I added the keyboard and 2 postage stamps to a white sculpture. The bottom stamp is a commemorative of the 2004 Olympics in Greece.
Altering really does make me happy. I really do amuse myself. I added the man's head on top of Louise's, a stamp under one hand and a fish, cut from a South African stamp, to the other hand.
Here's Louise, herself, contemplating the large bust that I put into her room. The stamp behind her head really makes her stand out more.

Which of these 3 do you like the best?

The Moon, mail art, and more

The moon was enormous last night and our clear sky permitted my seeing it so clearly. Other places in the world, people got to see the eclipse of the moon.
I made moon inspired mail art today.
I bought some more Washi tape when we were in New York City last month, including this dotty one.
This, too, was inspired by the moon. It's called Brownie Moon Cakes and I put the recipe on my recipe blog. You can see it at Mim4mail.
Yesterday, we stopped by our friends house for his annual pottery sale and holiday cheer. He lives in this lovely old house, which is not far from where we live, and right behind his house is the home of my Spanish teacher. You can see it in the distance. I'm so lucky that everything is so conveniently located that we don't have to drive far to get there.
Here is some of the pottery that was for sale. You can see more of it on Steven's web site.  We bought a small bowl to add to our collection of useable original pottery.

Tea Time and baking day.

This is what I had after baking today. I made corn bread from a package called Miracle Maize cornbread and Muffin Mix. I never tried it before, the company's been around since 1903, so I figured I'd give it a try. The corn bread was delicious! I, also, made Mexican brownies (with cinnamon in them) topped with a really delicious frosting of cooked brown sugar & butter (and some other stuff.) This was part of the Chili dinner that I'd donated to the Richmond Peace Education Center auction last November. The purchaser called for it for today. The dinner consisted of vegetarian chili, corn bread and brownies.
Since the purchaser lived nearby, we walked over with the food in a red basket, very Little Red Ridinghood, no?
I buy my eggs from a woman who lives over in Surry County and raises hens and bees. These are not factory eggs. They come in all sizes and colors. This dozen had a pale greenish-blue egg amongst the browns. Pretty.
This lovely photo of a tea cup is actually a postcard that was submitted to the new mail art call for TeaTime Mail Art. You can see the entries and why we had to renew the call, here.  I'll be adding more cards soon as many new ones have arrived. Please do check it out.

It's August already!!!

The summer is half way over, and glad about it. It's been so hot here and we look forward to cooler days.  I'm writing writing this...
