Mid-week Mail Art and more, much more.

365.2 #360

365.3 #210
Monday morning, back to lovely flowing fabric shapes. I hope I can find lots more like this. I really like the way they work out.

Added random stick on letters for more rhythm.
365.3 #211

365.2 #362

Okay, images loaded out of order, oh well. Here's a three piece collage. The colors on the 3 pieces work so well together that they blend and it's all one piece, right? I like it!

I got some scraps from a correspondent (C.Z.Lovecraft) so I used them to make today's cards. The legs were from one image and the circles from a sticky sheet of images that I didn't want to use so I punched holes in it.
365.3 #212

These legs are so active in the positions in which I placed them. In the original image, they were static.

The "shelf" is back in a new incarnation. This is a shadow-box-cubby-house-amazing-shelf! I know who made it, shhh, it's a secret, and it's so delightfully full.

Here's a close-up of one area. Today, I added a few tiny stickers, and I noticed the "rewind" stone, which was one that I'd placed ages and ages ago on the original shelf.
Here's a fuller view of the "box" that I got this morning. There are lots of pencils sticking out today. The label says - add to the log but there's no log. So I wrote on the old postcard that someone had place in a slot.

When I stopped this morning to add the stickers, a man saw me and came across street. He asked if I knew more about this - so I told him the story. He and his children have been adding to the various "shelves" and taking from them, too. He was moving and was thinking he'd post a shelf in his new neighborhood. I hope he does. And sends me images, too.

This is the notice that I taped under the "shelf." I'd seen one on Facebook the other day and liked the idea. I wish that I'd scanned it before I posted it so I could see which strips had been taken. It's nice to see that people are taking what they need.
Here's our Zinn. We got to see her at lunch yesterday and she was sooo engaging. Cutie face, could be a doll, right?

365.2 #361
And here's Bizoo, who'd put himself to sleep in his kitchen sling bed, for a late morning nap.  Oh to be able to relax so easily. Oh, yes, that's what's called "cat naps."

Here's the out of order one that is the other Mail Art from yesterday. Again, this is three scraps of paper. I like the way the depth is working, very spatial.

Sunday - continuing quiet time.

We went to the pool this morning, a gray day to start out, but we went anyway. The water was chilly but the swim time was good.

365.2 #359

3653 #209
I save my scraps from preparing vegetables to give to the neighbors' hens. The other day, the gate was open so I could just go in and say hello to the "ladies." There are three of them - vanilla, pepper, and a reddish one, whose name has just now escaped from my brain. They enjoy the scraps and I'm glad that they don't go to waste.

Here are today's Mail Art pieces. I can't believe that in 6 days I'll have finished my second 365 Mail Art project. Crazy!

I'll still have my 3rd 365 project to complete but at #209 I'm more than half way there. I don't think I'll do another. I'll keep making Mail Art but - differently.

Sunday - quiet time to blog.

The re-construction of my studio has moved along. I peeked in and this is what I saw through the plastic covering the door-way. So dreamy. Still so much to do. The workers will be back tomorrow.
I saw this face at our nearby movie theatre last week. I posted it on Facebook with a request for captions and I got lots of good ones. How about you? Can you come up with a caption for this face? Or do you see something else here?

Didn't this one turn out so old-timey? I really like it. only 5 small dots and two scraps. I liked it so much that I made the 2nd one for the day in a similar way.

Here's the 2nd Mail Art of the day (Thursday.) 5 dots and 2 scraps. I like the way this one turned out, too. Oh happy me, having fun.

More scraps and dots for Friday.

Yesterday, I decided to use only 2 scraps - the same for each card.  I'd been saving the rock scrap for the right combination with something and the stripes worked well.

I punched a hole in each of the rock scraps so that the substrate shows through. I wanted to play with the spatial illusion created by the deep shadows. The circles appear to me, to be ON the surface on the rocks, not a hole. Do they appear that way for you?

Mail Art & more

Isolating fabric gives it a whole new meaning. This has such a floaty, under-water feeling to me. I had to put random letters on the card. The little "z" is for our little Z.

I have a small collection now of fabric bits. I'm always looking for more, of course.

Yesterday the pool water was cool, the air was warm, it wasn't humid - a lovely day to swim. Today, not so much. A rainy start to the day. This is it for today's weather in Richmond, VA, USA.
Bizoo loves to be where I am, or if I'm not accessible, he's where my honey is. He's such a puppy! We can't get over how big he is and still growing! Here he is laying on my Philately catalog with his paws on a recipe for a clafouti. He's learning a lot!

Mail Art, Mustaches, and more

365.2 #353

365.3 #203
I might have to do a few more Mail Art collages with cars as I cut out a bunch from a brochure I got at the car dealer.

Couldn't resist. All is fodder for the collage artist.

I'm really fond of this Egon Schiele little girl. I'd never seen it before. She was perfect for this Mail Art collage.
This morning, I had an early visit from the neighbors, with the announcement that I'd won the best Pet Photo contest with my photo of Bizoo. The pair recited poems for me and sang. Then they played with Bizoo for awhile. I remembered that we hadn't used the paper 'staches for my honey's birthday so I gave them some. They were quite the charmers in them, don't you think.
Here's my actual vehicle. I had to go to the DMV for a duplicate title for my old vehicle and this gave me the opportunity to snap my car not in my garage. It's so tiny, yet roomy inside. I'm happy I got it.

This is the composite that my son made for Zinn's 4th month birth recognition. It's based on a Beetles cover.
Nice for Zinn to have a father who is a designer/artist right?

Here's the Beetles album cover.

Baby Z, Mail Art and more about my new vehicle.

This is Baby Z. Oh My, she holds her head up. Her Mum makes funny noises and she laughs out loud for real. Her Da sent this photo this morning.

365..3 #202

Today's Mail Art is about my new Vehicle. I'm making them to send to the guys at the dealership to thank them for making the process easy for me.

They'll be surprised, for sure. Check out the numbers. I'm almost done with 365.2! I've said it before and I'll say it again, ALMOST finished with year 2 of daily Mail Art. Can't wait!

Here are two of the people who made me feel good about buying a car from Richmond Ford.

Can my grin be any bigger?

Here's what I saw at the pool the other morning. These two noodles sharing a chaise, chillin' out beside the pool full of hot water ( 92F/31C .)

Stay cool best way you can, my friends in hot climes. And hydrate!

Baby Z, baby B & Mail Art, of course.

Doesn't Baby Z look like she's shouting out a Rock Song? Yay! She was on her Da's lap swinging on the porch swing and having a great time. She was all giggly. My honey was her destination on each forward swing. What fun.
Baby Bizoo looks good on a striped mat, doesn't he?
He likes lying about on the porch even though it's 90 + degrees out there, IN the shade.
These Washi tape and circle pieces of Mail Art were done on a day when I had to move quickly and get out and about.

Going to those two things as my default never fails me.

I felt like they also were very much about summer and activity. Slow when it was too hot to move fast, then fast when possible.

I printed out some faux postage stamps and punch them out with my special hole punch.

The brown paper is what remained and I loved the way it looked.

These two are from Thursday. They remind me of two things - clowns and apartment buildings. Right?

These two are special. I made them on Friday and they are numbered -
365.2 #350
 and 365.3 #200

These numbers are amazing as I've almost completed my 2nd year of daily Mail Art, and am more than half way through my 3rd year. Yikes!
 These are today's Mail Art.

They represent the big thing that happened today - I got a new car!

I'd been planning to get another car this summer because a) my car has 2 doors, b) my car's a/c has been broken for 2 hot summers c) it was time, the Beetle was 14 years old.

What do I need more doors? Because at some point, Baby Z will get to ride with me and I need easier entry to the back & the future car seat. Why do I need A/C?
Aaagh. It's so hot here in the summer. It's a health hazard!

I had to get a very small car with 4 doors, so I had a limited number to choose from. I got a car that wasn't at the top of my list, and a year that I hadn't thought possible. Do you recognize this car?
The color - violet-gray!

How did I get into this?

I was asked when I started doing Mailart. Good question. Like many artists, I was making and mailing art without even knowing it had a name ...
