Knitting for a Blythe Doll

What craziness! I'm knitting for a doll, and a small doll, at that. I can't believe that I made this coat. Chuck suggested that I make the head wrap and it turned out really cute. I haven't named this doll, yet; but, I'm leaning towards "Zelda" as kind of a 1920's name. If you have any thoughts on doll naming, chime in with a suggestion. I'm working on a second coat to see if I can "perfect" the pattern. Maybe I'll get adept at this and even offer one for sale on Fritzi. Who knows. All I know is that I'm having a lot of fun with this. Thank you, Tracy!

A nice day....

Last Sunday, while Ryan was visiting, we took a walk over to Monument Avenue for the annual Easter Parade, which is not a parade but a BIG walk around. People and dogs, many in fancy hats, just walk down one side and up the other, with the median park area filled with booths and activities. It's a lot of fun. There are bands set up on porches, Morris Dancers in the street, jugglers, clowns, food, and in general a happy atmosphere. We liked this lawn decorated with fake eggs of all sizes and a fat bunny. Later, after our family headed back to New jersey, we stopped by our friends' house and they had made these cute cupcakes. Susan was happy to tell us that she'd used her new paper cutter, we thought on the coconut, but it was to make the duck napkin fit the tray. We had a laugh over that. Okay, so we laugh easily and at little things.

Elflog update.

The shelf was bare when I checked on Thursday of last week, but I looked at the pole and saw that someone had added some beads. Friday, Ryan came to spend a couple days in Richmond. He loves to walk Smitty with me and to check out the shelf. We made some Real Small Art to put on it. You can see him placing his little art work on a sunny afternoon. There's a closeup of our Real Small Art pieces.






On Saturday, we found a tiny truck in an alley and decided that it should go on the shelf, too. Later in the day, Ryan added the stone that I'd written on.

My new toy - Blythe

If you've looked at Fritzi, my Etsy shop, you've seen the hat and scarf sets I've made for the Blythe doll. It all started when someone asked me to make a hat for her doll. I had no idea what a Blythe was but once I saw it, I was, hmm, how shall I put it? Enchanted! I started looking for one and discovered that they are quite a niche item and the original ones, oh why didn't I buy one in 1972, are worth lots of money. I finally found one that appealed to me and ordered it. She arrived today, from Hong Kong. I can't wait to start knitting little clothes for it, I mean, her. Is she cute or what?! Oh, and her eyes change color and look in different directions.

Elflog and Etsy

So the shelf has been pretty empty. It's been a year since it's been up and maybe it's run it's course? Could that be? I seem to be the only one putting anything on the shelf and those items disappear over night. This image shows one of my Real Small Art League pieces and a photo of school girls in Africa. Next day, gone! No one wants to play.

I got on a roll this morning and made some new tote bags. I'm really tickled by this checked and dotty one. the inside is polka dot, and it can be reversed. You can see the new bags on Fritzi.

My friend Irascible has opened her Etsy shop. Check it out. She's a very talented designer and I can't wait to see more of her stuff.

Tea Time Mail Art

Fritzi, my etsy shop news

I'm so excited about my Etsy shop, known as Fritzi.

My sister Eilene, sent me images of her beaded bag. Here's one of the photos. The bag is reversible so we've got lots of views of it on the shop site. She's working on a new one, but they take so long to hand bead, I don't know when we'll have another one to show.

The hat and scarf set are teeny! They're for a doll! Someone asked if I could make a hat for their Blythe doll, and after seeing the doll on-line, I was taken by it. I made several hats to the measurements I was given, met up with the doll (and her owner) at a coffee shop for a fitting, and voila...I'm a Blythe doll hat maker. Such fun. Now I want my own doll, to model for me.
Am I having fun, or what!? Gotta go make something....

Elflog

This is the way the shelf looked when I first "met" it a year ago. A shelf just looking for something to be placed on it, right? This is how it looked two days ago. I didn't add anything, waiting to see what will happen. I think I'll put something on it tomorrow if it's not windy and raining , as predicted.
