An exciting thing for IUOMA

I'm a member of the International Union of Mail Artists (IUOMA) and tonight, we got our 3000th member.

To welcome this member, I altered a previously made card by adding stick-on letters and numbers.

It looks pretty exuberant, right?
A bunch of us members have been eagerly awaiting the arrival of this member, who did NOT put a postal address on their IUMOA page.

I, however, being sleuthy, found the person on Facebook and gave the good news, while requesting a postal address. I hope the person posts it so that all IUOMA will send them Mail Art.

Wouldn't that be exciting, to receive 2999 pieces of Mail Art?
Or just insane. What do you think?

More Mail Art catching up

These two fabric pieces are from Sunday.  I added random text to them. Why, I don't know but thought they added something that was necessary.

Stripes and dots, and random words, some of my favorite things.

I found the striped paper in a magazine that had lots of carpeting. I like that it's made up of strips and I wish I had the patience to make collages like that, but I don't.

These are 2 variations on stripes and circles and letter forms. I like how colorful these are though I'm not a person who does much in my life this colorfully.

Today, we had to get up early and do errands before it got too hot. I decided to do some quick Mail Art pieces before we left the house. Washi tape and circles are my default, as you know.

These are HOT feeling to me, like the temperature today.

Here's baby Zinn. I got this on my phone this morning. When the morning photos arrive, I just get so, oh what's the term, warm and fuzzy? This is our SON'S baby!! She is so cute, and surprise, we went out for coffee before running the errands, and there was our DIL and Zinn meeting a friend at the same cafe. Yay, we got to see Zinn in person and kiss her head and hold her.

Here's Bizoo in one of his favorite spots. The chair in my temp studio. Passed out!

Mail Art catch up!

Had a red theme going on here. I used my newish big hole punch to make these circles and use them as a background. They make the scraps with the letter forms pop!

This is card is for my friend BB as she sent me a photo with the "commit no nuisance" sign on it. I cut it out and added a girl from an old photo - no clue who this child is. Simple, a bit of a narrative going on, but okay.

Here I go, back with the cut out fabric. I really like how these bits play out on a plain ground. They become so different. The feel is so airy and spatial.

We had a new fence built to separate us better from our neighbor to the east. We'll either paint it or stain it. I like it a lot.

Here's another view of my temporary studio, with the kitty curled up in the easy chair. This is working out. I could probably keep using this space except I don't have all my stuff.

Construction starts to repair the rooms next Wednesday. Yay.

Friday already! Where'd the week go? Mail Art & more.

365.2 #340
I started out on Monday using letters that I'd cut out of a graphics magazine. This A with the dots is perhaps a take on the scandanavian alphabet, in which case it sounds like an "O" so I titled this one "Oh!"  Simple - only 4 bits.

For some reason, on Tuesday, I went back to my striped fabric bits, but here again, only 4 bits. I like how airy and light this one is with a lot of depth.

Wednesday, back to using the letters from the magazine. 5 bits, now why did I need to add that tiny black circle?

And here is yesterday, the "ae" combination. What alphabet? Back to only 4 bits.

This was the 2nd Monday card. I made it for my grand. Maybe some day when she's older I'll make her an entire alphabet set. Z is for Zinn. See below.

Tuesday's 2nd card - more striped fabric.

Wednesday, the 2nd card featured an umlauted "u" or, at least, I think it's that with the dots artistically placed. I like this one a lot. I always like it when I can find a circle that works as a transparency or appears that way.

Yesterday, another winner winner for me. Another circle that works as a transparency or magnification, perhaps.

Here's Bizoo, fast asleep in the chair next to me in my temporary studio space.  Does he ever love this chair! He's 4 months old as of Monday.
Bizoo is asleep, but look who's awake. Here's Zinn! I took this photo last night at my honey's birthday celebration. She is looking so serious here but there were many moments of smiles and lots and lots of "words." She is just about 4 months old.

Sunday Mail Art plus

365.3 #188

Making Mail Art daily in my temp studio with limited supplies seems not to be a problem. YAY me.
Bizoo found a friend - a plush toy monkey. He carries it around, runs with it, tussles with it, keeping us amused.

And here's our Zinn, smiling at yesterday's bocce ball tournament.

A post that is NOT Mail Art!

Lovely hydrangeas in bloom!

For my birthday, I received a tin of sticky googly eyes with the request to document where I place them. Here's the first placement.
Here's Bizoo with a friend! I had a pile of plush toys on the floor, planning to fluff them up in the clothes dryer. Bizoo took one and ran with it! He had such fun, that he tired himself out.

Yesterday, he checked out my de-constructed studio.
Here's our oh so cuter than ever Zinn! Sleeping so peacefully.

More catching up with Mail Art!.

Here are the cards that I made starting with #332 on 1 July.

I was on the train returning from NYC. I used what I had in my traveling kit. I love the way the large circle fits along the edge. I like making that transparency illusion happen.
365.2 #334

365.2 #335

While on the train, I cut up a magazine that my honey had finished with. It was a British fashion publication and had pages of striped clothing on models.

I made this one on my birthday.

I cut out only the striped parts, obviously. Can you tell what part this was?

The parts are excellent isolated this way.

This sweet kitty is listening to dots!

Back to stripey bit with circles.

These are the companion pieces to the ones above. It would probably have been better for you to see them as pairs, what do you think? Or is this okay, too.

#182 is a total favorite of mine. The circle worked perfectly with the black shape, didn't it?

More stripey bits with circles.

And an alteration of a sculpture show card of my friend Keith Long. It's a mermaid sculpture, but doesn't the dog look very good sitting on it? I'm sending it to Keith & his honey.

Postcards from the National Postal Museum

My friend Annie, who now lives in Florida, grabbed a large supply of these postcards before moving south. She shared with me cause she know...
