Collage collaborations

I've been collaborating on small collages with an unknown artist. I post a collage on the board, someone takes it and alters it and returns it. This collage came back with the dotted piece added. I then added the two phrases (Une petite and petits objets) to it and re-posted it on the notice board. The final piece, for me, is this with the addition of the back curve. It's finished! Thanks to whomever. I've made and posted another simple collage based on something I saw in the metro yesterday. I hope that someone works with it. I'll let you know.

Tour Eiffel at night

The Eiffel Tower is my favorite sight in Paris. I just love it, as do lots and lots of other people, you should see the crowds at all times. Last night, we went to take pictures of it. We stayed until 10 p.m. to see it sparkle with strobe lights. I was happy to get these nice photos even though I didn't have a tripod. We took the metro and got off at Trocadero so I was able to get the long shot with the beacon. We walked towards the Champs de Mars and caught the sparkling tower, as we walked (a bit of a trek) to take the metro back from the Bir Hakeim stop. We rode above ground for awhile and were able to glimpse the tower between the buildings. So awesome. Always so awesome.

Crepes for dinner

Last night we met some friends at a crepe restaurant near the Gobelins tapestry factory. It was a very small restaurant called La Taverne des Poetes. We had saracens for our main crepe and followed with a dessert crepe. C also tried there French onion soup. The waiter was very nice to speak his little bit of English with us and even put a sparkler on the dessert. We walked back to the Cite des Arts after eating. It was maybe 2 miles, a nice walk, with the last part crossing the Seine at the end of Ile St. Louis so we got to cross it twice actually. We have the names of two other crepes places that are better than the one we ate at and hopefully we'll get to one of them before we return home. I'd like to try some other dessert crepes. Isn't this a cute little restaurant?

Some good food and good weather

Last night we had dinner at one of our favorite restaurants, Le Trumilou. I had Liege, a kind of light white fish with vegetables (many more than are shown on my plate) and a dessert, three fruit mousse. So delicious! Today it was very sunny and spring-like. I bought a book at a bouquiniste and went down by the Seine to walk along the voie. I sat on a bench for awhile, I read, I watched the tourist boats going by, the people sitting or walking, the children playing, the pigeons hanging out. It was so so so nice.

Centre Pompidou

The daffodils are in bloom behind the Cite des Arts. The trees are bare but these fleurs say: springs coming! We went to Centre Pompidou with a friend who'd not been there before. Besides seeing the Ron Arad exhibit again, and some of the permanent collection, we went into the installation by Daniel Ortega, which was very cool. No photos allowed but I snapped some of the video showing outside of the exhibit space. It was really very interesting to experience.

Paris on Friday

We started the day with pain aux raisins, then off we went with the plan to get to BHV (department store) but wandered through the Marais looking in windows at clothing and other things, finally getting to the big store where we immediately had to have coffee and...a pear pastry. Oh boy, we're eating a lot of pastries! We spent lots of time in the DIY bathroom section, looking at sinks, showers, accessories, and making imaginery bathrooms for ourselves. Here's a display of the colorful glass sinks that are available.

Collage remix redux

What fun! Someone worked on my collage "texture" and labeled it "remix" on the back. I then added some colored pencil to it and two pieces of red paper & posted it on the notice board. Someone is playing the "game." I love it.

It's August already!!!

The summer is half way over, and glad about it. It's been so hot here and we look forward to cooler days.  I'm writing writing this...
