A new moisturizer!

Some of you, who are regular readers of my blog, may remember that I was posting a lot about the cosmetic safety data base. I still check all my skin care and make-up products against their list, looking for products that do not contain carcinogens (all those cancer causing chemicals. Yuk!) A few weeks ago, I looked for a safe moisturizer and "discovered" this product, made in USA, which was a zero ("0") so I explored the site, Soap for Goodness Sake.
I had several e-mails with the proprietor and then ordered the moisturizer. It's all organic, just shea butter and organic sunflower seed oil. That's it! The price was very reasonable for the amount of product.
When it arrived, I was surprised that it was a solid! I thought uh-oh, this might be too thick for a face moisturizer. I've been using the product in the tube behind the jar...a lotion from France. I've been using the new product now for a few weeks and am very satisfied with it. It became a liquid on my finger tips, goes on smoothly, does not look greasy (I've checked with my women friends about how my face looks) and any left-over on my fingers I just rub onto my hands or even through my hair.

I recommend that you check out the data base and the product site. Kathy, the proprietor, will answer any questions you have. On her site, you can see their farm. Let me know what you think.

More from Los Angeles

My sister had a dinner for her future son-in-law, his mother and sister. She made a really delicious meal, and I contributed a homemade boursin cheese spread and my newest yummy chickpea recipe, which you can have here.

I spent a couple nights with my other sister and brother-in-law at my nephew's house in the far west San Fernando valley. Here's the house across street as viewed from the bedroom I stayed in. We celebrated my sister and brother-in-law's wedding anniversary at a posh Four Season's hotel and restaurant, where the Ceasar salad surprised us all. We'd never seen anything like it. The food was very good and each dish was presented in a very unusual way.In the entry there was a nice Buddha statue. I returned home from this trip feeling liked I'd had endless meal time. All good!

My trip west....

I went out to Los Angeles to celebrate my niece's upcoming wedding. The party was lovely, excellent food, good conversations, meeting up with family and friends. The flower arrangements on the table were created by my younger sister and her friend. Mom, who is 95, was able to attend and, as you can see by her smile, enjoyed herself.

I drove down Hollywood Blvd. which has some great old buildings, and flying away from the city,
I got to see the curve of the western edge of the United States.

We'll be flying out in October for the wedding.

Music Night

Little cousin was visiting and once again treated us to his wonderful, unique jazzy piano stylings.
He's only 8 1/2, just entering 3rd grade. He, also, plays a mean kunga drum! One of these days, I'll have a video recording device and you'll be able to see and hear him in action. In the mean time....little cuz, here's to you...clap clap clap!

Smitty

I snapped this photo of Smitty with my cell phone after he had his grooming. He's deaf, doesn't see well at night, and walks kind of wobbly, but he still loves to take walks in the neighborhood. I just wanted to show you how cute he is.

Mail Art

I read about this book on Missive Maven's site. I ordered the book and it arrived yesterday, though I didn't go out my front door until this morning. Wow, what a delight. There are great tips, mail artists that are familiar to me and a whole bunch of new ones. There is an envelope template, some removable postcards that can gain a surprise for you when you send them in, and some stickers. The photographs are excellent, the resources very useful, and the side bars are filled with information. It's a DIY inspiration! The author's are Jennie Hinchcliff and Carolee Gilligan Wheeler. The book is Good Mail Day, A Primer for Making Eye-Popping Postal Art.
