An assortment of images

A tourist boat, with it's lights shining on the buildings, stopped for a few moments in front of us. A juggler/clown entertained the crowd on the Pont St. Louis. Our favorite stand in the market on Place Baudoyer, where we get our cheese spreads, olives and round sesame bread.

Danger of Death

I have lots of images to post from yesterday's visit to the brocante, our thanksgiving dinner, and today's walk to the Jardin des Plantes, however, i'm only going to show you this scary thing that was laying on the ground in a courtyard open to the public. It ties in nicely with the current photos on Skull-a-day, images from Turkey that say the same thing, "danger of death."

What I've been up to....

In addition to making tiny collages for the Art-O-Mat,
I've been working on some Artist Trading Cards. A few years back, I acquired some old photos and had no idea what I'd do with them. Before we left for Paris, I trimmed them to ATC size and hope that I'd be inspired. Making little hats and finding captions for one group and finding new heads for another has been a lot of fun. I feel like the "old boys" are enjoying themselves. Silly moi!

Here's a picture of the Pantheon as seen from out window. Yesterday, we walked past it, on our way back from the Cartier Foundation , where we saw an exhibit by two artists. As we went by that area, it was time for students to emerge from universities and colleges (our high school equiv.) I loved hearing and seeing these young people, so lively, talkative, giving each other bises (those little cheek kisses that are audible) and yet looking like American kids.

As we crossed the bridge behind Notre Dame, Chuck dug his freezing hands out of his pockets to snap this lovely photo of the full moon. It was worth it!

This morning, Notre Dame....

Thanksgiving in Paris

Thanksgiving day for us Americans...what to do but take a walk! It was a lovely spring-like day. Some high school students were on strike (greve) in sympathy with the transportation workers? the teachers? the firefighters? We had no idea. There they were, a small group of them, filing past us on the Place de Greve in front of l'Hotel de Ville.

We took our handy Gallery guide map and did a tour of galleries in the marais, 7 or 8 of them, and actually found some very interesting work in several of them. When it was time for a coffee break, we headed to our favorite place, the Swedish Cultural Centre, where one can get seconds on coffee (the only place in Paris that probably does this.) We toured the exhibit of photos on the color red. Perfect for me, eh? with my color classes. It was about a specific red from a specific mineral mined in Sweden, which is used to paint buildings.
Oh yes, the pear almond tarte we had, came with home made chantilly (whipped cream.) Yum!

We left the centre and headed down the street, where on the corner of rue Payenne and Francs Bourgeois, we saw this crazy window. Cracked us up! It's a BIG turkey hiding under a lamp shade, shaking (yes, it was moving) with feathers shaken off, and on the window it said "the great escape." Hilarious. It put us in a thanksgiving mood. Other Americans were taking pictures of it, too.

After some more walking, with dusk arriving, we stopped at a bucherie to get Chuck his poulet roti for dinner. I made some potatoes and salad, we poured some wine, toasted our good fortune to have a wonderful family and wonderful friends, and ate our meal while looking out over the Seine River in Paris. Grateful.

Fleur exhibition

The Mairie de la Ville de Paris holds an exhibit each year of art work done by employees. As part of the show, florists who are responsible for the Gardens, green spaces, public building plantings, get to show off their creativity. This is the second year that we've been able to see this. Chuck took these great photos for me. Some of the arrangements were very odd, even somewhat unattractive, like that square one in the distance, but most were very lovely. They were displayed in two white tents right in front of the Hotel de Ville (City Hall.)

An ice skating rink is being set up in the plaza and hoping it'll be finished before we leave, so we can show it to you.

The windows and something cute...

When we left the studio yesterday, for our walk, I looked back into the room, and this is what I saw. I just love having those big windows looking out at our little part of Paris.

And here's the cute thing, on our walk, we went down a street that was filled with Band Dessinee stores, one after the other. They have books and figures from the comics. I put my camera lens against the glass in one shop and got this image of Tin Tin and Snowy. It's just so cute!

Here I am, back again after a long hiatus

No explanations as to my hiatus. It's boring. But I'm back. And here's what I've been making. Lots and lots of these. They...
