African Heritage Museum

One of the displays showed traditional African masks and a djembe drum, in another room there were amazing masks that developed later. We saw examples of the barrel drums like the ones being made in the workshop. A small room was devoted to Santeria and this cabinet shrine was set up in a corner. I wish there was a humidity and temperature index attached to this so you could feel how caliente it was. Whew! We headed back to El Convento, where we could relax in somewhat cooler surroundings. We ended up at the plunge pool again, to relax and read awhile. The breeze was very nice.

Walking...

This morning we went to the pool terrace, to experience the jacuzzi and plunge pool early, before the sun was too hot. It was very nice...you can see my toes being very relaxed! After breakfast, we went out for a walk.
There were some colorful doorways and tall coconut palms. We found the museum where Jorge was teaching a drum making workshop. This was week two of an 8 week course. About 10 men and women were hammering away on barrels, preparing them for the next step. I was too involved listening to Jorge that I didn't take any photos.

More holiday views

Can you figure out where we are on holiday? This is day one, we arrived at about 1:30 and in short order were out walking. We're so glad we're in the viejo area, lots to see, including Parque de las Palomas. On the way back to the hotel we stopped at a bakery and got two really good pastries. Oooops! Forgot to take a picture before we ate them! Oh well, guess we'll have to buy more of them so you can get a look. Carlos had told us that we'd be right next to the children's museum and we are! ElfLog update

Yesterday, the shelf was lively, my little paper rubber stamped cards, flowers, stones, and a lost kitten notice flapping in the breeze. Tonight, the notice was gone (maybe the kitten was found, we can hope.) Only one stamped card and three little stones were left on the shelf. Maybe it needs to be simpler. Maybe that's what's happening. Maybe someone likes a cleaner look! I'll be away for a few days. It'll be interesting to see what happens when I'm gone.

Flowers

The other day, I saw Sage and Adrianna playing in front of their house. I'd just taken a photos of some flowers thru a fence nearby and showed them on my camera. They then wanted me to take pictures of them with a flower they had. I liked the way the flower looked against their different colored shirts.

Eflog update

The shelf has been interesting lately. Very barren, for the most part. I put a photo up that I found taped to the newspaper box by the grocery store. It was taken by someone when they were in New Orleans. I also put up some small cards that I made using old rubber stamps. After I found a couple of them on the ground, I punched holes in them & hung them on nails on the pole. I wrote on a tile and put that up. Someone put on a tiny bell, a penny, some flowers, some plastic clips that are little bees. The shelf looked nice this morning with the flowers and clips.


So I wonder what's going on? Has the shelf run it's course? I'm still with it!
