Packing, so far.

Here's where I am with my packing for our two and a half month long trip. I've got to fit in a lightweight rain coat, the shoes, a couple more pieces of clothing...oh boy. I plan to take it all out, lay it on the bed, add and eliminate things. No matter what, the monkey stays. The test comes when I weigh the suitcase. It has to be under 50 pounds, and the case weighs 8 lbs. The carry on piece will have my laptop, my camera and all the various cords, plus the little stuff, like the flash drive and the card reader. The techno piece is new for me. I've never traveled with any of it before. I'm anxious about setting up the WiFi, which requires a mobile, but first I have to set up the mobile...okay...so when I'll do my first post from Paris is unknown. Hopefully, it'll only take me a couple three days. Keep your fingers crossed.

A big change

I decided that I needed a BIG change. A big change that was nice, not like the recent unfortunate change, otherwise known as THE ACCIDENT. So I was thinking about going back to being a blonde. My sister said "do it before your trip!" So I did. I'm so happy about it. I feel so BLONDE!

Meditation

The other night, while I was doing my PT exercises at the kitchen table, Chuck snapped this picture of me. It reminds me that doing these exercises has been like a meditation for me. My goal is to have as much range of motion as possible before our departure for Paris. I'm doing really well according to my surgeon and my PT. YES! I'm exhuberant. Can one be meditatively exhuberant?

the studio

I've been spending some time in my studio, not making art, unfortunately, but cleaning up. Yes, even one handed I've been able to tackle the messiest areas. I filled two bags with paper trash, relocated some "treasures" and put things in drawers (out of sight!) What a good feeling to know that when we leave for our trip, my studio will be neater. I took photos of my inspiration boards and part of my cluttered work space. Even though the images are small, some of you might spot photos of yourselves or items you've sent me. I'm very happy in my studio, even when I'm not making art. Where are you happy?

I was going through some pictures on my computer and found this image that a friend sent me. He took it when he was traveling, I think. There's something satisfying about seeing my name in "print." Okay, not on a theatre marquee, a book cover, a one person art exhibit, but IN PRINT none the less. (I'm amusing myself.) I think I'll be purposeful looking for MIM & documenting what, if anything, I find.

Art work 2005 - early 2006

Since I don't have a web site for my art work, I thought it was time to share some images here. Two of the "woven" pieces are 3"x3" and are part of my Homeland Security series. You may recognize the security envelopes in them. Using the envelopes came from a "talk" with Anna Banana. The work deals with my feeling towards the patriot act & the color coded security system. Two of the pieces are 9"x9" and are actually woven maps with stitching. Those were from my Tikkun Olam series, about repairing the world. They stem from my frustration with the world situation, which I couldn't make any better. I retreated to my studio to make art. The rectangular piece is only 4"x6" and is mail art sent to a show, called "Crossroads,World", in North Carolina.

Splint on!

I was so happy when I learned i'd be getting a splint! And what a cool black appliance it is! Sort of a futuristic look, Okay, in my excitement of being with out the pink "monster" i'm getting carried away. Happy me, pin free!

Off with the cast!

Today was the day i was looking forward to with a combi of apprehension and happiness. I was so wanting the cast off. I was way over the pink-ness of it & the heaviness of it. At the same time, I was dreading the removal of the PIN! Thankfully, it went well, derfinitely a major OUCH involved, but not another hard cast. Here is Devon hard at work with saw & pliers on my cast.
