random art

I was walking Smitty in the alley when I spotted this little painting. Random art! I love it. I hope I see more of these. If you're in the area and want to check it out, it's in the alley next to Halcyon.

There were a lot more around town, but the city has been taking them down! I'm glad that hasn't deterred the artist.

Wanted to share this photo with you. A new take on the deconstruction of urban bikes.

One early morning a few years back, I went 'dumpster diving'. I was in the market for some kind of box for my new cat friend who had never been a pet or petted, and it was winter. Well, I found a big dog kennel (being thrown out because the front grill was missing) which I converted into a cat haven for Pickles.

What I also found that morning that made me very happy were some kid's papers. A few drawings, and a few papers with high marks. I hung them up on the fence, like a gallery, for people in the neighborhood to see.

Well! I'm pretty bummed. The city took down the random art piece by Halcyon. I'm going to keep my camera with me when I walk the dog, just in case I see any more of them. What a shame. Art is good! Art in the alleys is good.

It's all about the documentation. Art is like weeds, you can try to get rid of it but it will keep growing in the between the cracks. You should send any pics you take to Wooster Collective's public art blog.

How did I get into this?

I was asked when I started doing Mailart. Good question. Like many artists, I was making and mailing art without even knowing it had a name ...
